Two strategies are used for sound recording: live recording or multitrack recording. During a live recording session, all musicians play simultaneously with individual microphones. This captures the "complicity" between the musicians and adds authenticity / cohesion to the mix. Multitrack recording allows greater control of each instrument, more sophisticated miking, as well as more precise corrections. The musicians play in turn with headphones.
